Kari is a mother to three wonderful Cincinnati Public School students. All three of her children attend Sands Montessori.

Kari has been a CPS parent for 6 years. For the last three years, she has spent two days a week tutoring students. From running the book fair, planning field day, volunteering at community events, and coaching two youth basketball teams, Kari is dedicated to making our schools better for students. Kari serves in the parent organization, has chaired the Local School Decision Making Committee for the last two years, and assists with the athletics program administration. Kari feels grateful to have the opportunity to spend time not just with her own kids, but also with the amazing students who make up CPS.

Professionally, Kari comes from the corporate world. She spent nearly a decade working for Kroger. Kari found her greatest joy there was in helping to launch and implement Zero Hunger | Zero Waste in the corporate office. This program streamlined the way the company handled surplus food to reduce the amount of food in landfills and increase food donations across the country. She went from working in the food industry to becoming an expert in the food system and food rescue space. She worked hard to identify opportunities to improve efficiency while working toward a greater good. Taking on complex social issues while inside a for-profit business is no easy feat, and Kari is proud to say Kroger achieved many milestones during her 5 years leading the program.

Her leadership experience helped hone problem-solving skills, a desire to build diverse coalitions, and the ability to grow engagement around compelling narratives. Kari’s leadership style and experience as a parent within CPS will make her a great representative on the Cincinnati School Board. She is eager for the opportunity to help our students thrive at all levels and build a brighter future for our city.
